In recent years, the news media has confused the terms hacker and cracker. A cracker is someone who tries to break into computers. However, Webster's 7th Dictionary defines a hacker as:
hacker \'hak-er\ n [hack skillful repair of a computer program + -er] (1976) :an expert at programming and solving problems with a computer
